As a historical record The Blues Foundation Blues Hall of Fame has been documenting and recording since 1980. Inductees must qualify within five categories being performers, non-performers, classics of blues literature, classics of blues recordings (songs), classics of blues recordings (albums). With the blues hall of fame there is not a submission nor a nomination process for induction, instead each year in the fall a panel of elected blues scholars begins discussion of potential candidates until a vote is made in each of the five categories.
